The Assistant Director’s comprehensive program of strategic events and services will promote a culture of engagement and philanthropy among the student body while ensuring alignment with the priorities of Alumni Relations, Advancement, and the University.
ESSENTIAL/STRATEGIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Student Leadership: Execute a student engagement plan that implements the Student Alumni Association (SAA) for undergraduate and graduate students designed to promote the concept of being engaged alumni and future leaders.
Programs and Events: Responsible for developing small events and large campus-wide programs focused on student engagement and/or student/alumni interactions. Events and programs include, but are not limited to: Commencement, Senior Gift, Wildcat Sendoff, No-Stress Networking, Rising Alumni Leaders, mentoring programs, etc. Form campus partnerships to represent Alumni Relations at other campus programs including student leadership conferences and first year programs.
Training & Development: Responsible for recruiting, training, and advising of Student Alumni Association (SAA) officers, general members, and sub-committees. This includes the creation and implementation of training programs and coaching. Oversee and manage Alumni Relations student employee(s).
Communication/Marketing: Partner to develop marketing and communications plans for student events and SAA including web presence and social media efforts.

- Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 3-5 years of related event and volunteer management experience, preferably in a university environment or large operation with multiple departments/partners
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with alumni, faculty, staff, students, and the general public
- Strong computer literacy
- Supervisory skills
- Effective management of time and efficiency working with multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding and application of social media platforms
- Ability to work nights and weekends and travel occasionally

- Develop student and student/alumni related events and programs including Wildcat Sendoff, No-Stress Networking, Rising Alumni Leaders, mentoring programs, etc.
- As part of the Commencement Planning team, plan and execute logistical arrangements to ensure the success of Commencement weekend ceremonies.
- Oversee the Senior Gift campaign that informs graduating students about the importance and impact of giving to UNH and invites them to start engaging in philanthropy.
- Recruit students to attend regional and national alumni events. Provide coaching to students ahead of the program.
- Recruit student volunteers for various Alumni Relations events and programs.
- Oversee management and supervision of Alumni Relations student employee(s).
Duty/Responsibility
- Execute a student engagement plan for the Student Alumni Association (SAA) designed to promote the concept of being engaged alumni and future leaders.
- Responsible for advising Student Alumni Association (SAA) officers, general members, and sub-committees. This includes the creation and implementation of training programs and coaching.
- Recruit students for SAA from the general undergraduate and graduate student populations and various affinity groups. Affinity groups include, but are not limited to, athletes, recognized student groups, student government, fraternity and sorority life, academic honor societies, Dean’s ambassadors, and other distinguished student organizations (i.e., Hamel Scholars).
Duty/Responsibility
- Serve and represent Advancement on campus-wide committees focused on student engagement initiatives including University Commission for Community, Equity and Diversity, Sophomore Working Group, Cross Collaboration Committee, University Research Conference (URC), Global Leadership Experience, UNH Leadership Camp.
- Connect student engagement efforts with existing campus programs in academic units and Student Life.
- Assist in data collection of campus student leaders including student organizations, student award winners, resident assistants, campus recreation groups, athletes, etc.
Duty/Responsibility
- Provide support and leadership for an Alumni Association Board of Directors task force/committee.
- Assist in recruiting for young alumni programming.
- Other duties as assigned.
